This browser extension is amazing: https://www.libraryextension.com/

When you're visiting a page on Amazon, GoodReads or a bunch of other sites, it checks your local libraries for books, ebooks, and audiobooks and adds a block to the page showing availability.

Another great resource? An actual librarian! Many are trained in readers' advisory services and love helping people find that next great read based on the books they've enjoyed in the past. Same goes for music and movies. So much has gone digital now that it's sometimes easy to forget the live people standing by willing and able to provide tangible services that tablets and smart phones just can't quite provide...yet, anyway. Thanks for the library love, by the way - Kent State School of Library and Information Science graduate here! :)

Libby is my source for e-reading, I couldn't live without it. One of my library cards, Brooklyn Public Library, is discontinuing the "out of state library cards for a fee" program and I'm so sad. Their selection is far better than my other 3 library cards and the holds limit was wonderful. My library card with them is good until September and then they won't renew it any more. :(

I like Libby because I can return books when Iʼm finished and get more. My access to Hoopla is 3 books per month.

My library does offer some books and articles by subscription,so electronic access to EBSCO. This I relish for niche publications.

Libby was a true lifesaver during the pandemic! I still haven't checked the services for movies streaming, thanks for the reminder!
