"Library Extension" is a great chrome extension for finding library books. You enter your libraries in it, and then it pops up when viewing books on Amazon, B&N, GoodReads and others and shows you if your library has copies (books, e-books, audio-books) and if they are available. You can then click on the link and be taken to your library to request it.
Thank you! I'm an avid reader and have two library cards for ebooks — one uses Libby and the other SimplyE. If find that SimplyE has a larger selection of books than Libby, though sometimes I can manage to grab something on Libby that won't be available for over six months or something on SimplyE. I find book recommendations hard, though. I tend to be a really literary reader, though sometimes I like junk.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing that, Russ. I just tried out a couple of suggested phrases in that search engine ("Books about people whose hobbies develop sentience," and "Slice of life stories but everyone can read minds during meetings,") and already found a good new book recommendation! Thanks for the link!
Thank you for taking the time to create this. This is a wonderful resource and quite frankly, definitely in the top five emails. I’ve gotten in 2025.
Thank you for including the points on gamification and extrinsic motivation on Epic.
These kinds of technologies make the appeal of "real reading" pale in comparison, while not providing the same developmental benefits.

Bookshop.org is a great way to buy online and support your local independent bookstore.
Agreed. Good alternative to Amazon. Thanks, Paul.

Check out this "book search engine" > https://en.app/
Works really well for finding new books like others you've enjoyed in the past

The VERY last people I will take advice from are Celebrities. The vast majority are out of touch and full subscribe to group-think.

Many thanks for your hard work. Love it all!
